Hey to all the new readers and followers who found Catching Days by way of Freshly Pressed! Thanks for your comments and your likes. I hope each of you will be back.
And a big thank you to Freshly Pressed for highlighting Nichole Bernier’s post in the How We Spend Our Days series on days in the lives of writers. Pam Houston kicked off the series back in 2009, and a guest writer has written about one of his or her days (or in the case of Dan Chaon, his nights) on the first of each month since then. 49 writers so far. If you’d like to read more posts in this series or see if your favorite writer has written a day, here’s the list of all 49 writers, with links to their posts. I’ll announce the next writer in the series in the next few days with an introduction to some aspect of his or her writing.
As Catching Days approaches its five year anniversary in September, a big thank you to longtime readers and followers as well!
For all of you, here’s a preview of how I am, and will be, spending my days and what you can look forward to here over the next few weeks: what real, live book I’m reading (that’s been turned into a movie), what book I’m listening to on Audible (and why), what Shakespeare has to do with it, my upcoming writing week in Provincetown, what interesting development has occurred in my other writing, and a report on the why and the how and the ups and the downs of my recent efforts to BMH–broaden my horizons : ) And a look ahead at how I’ll be spending my days in October–at two cool writing conferences on opposite sides of the country. Well, all this might spill over into next month too…
What I also have to look forward to in the next few weeks (which fits in nicely with BMH) is a visit to each of your blogs. More soon, there or here.
Cheers,
—cynthia
ps-how are you spending your days?
Henry VI (all the parts) is weird and amazing — I hope you’re enjoying it! I’m spending my days reading and writing a little, chasing a toddler, and putting off cleaning my kitchen cabinets. Lovely blog.
Hi Carolyn, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I am enjoying Henry VI, which honestly surprises me (currently on Part Three). And reading, writing, and chasing sounds like a wonderful way to spend your days : )
Congratulations on getting Freshly Pressed, Cynthia! As you know, I discovered you a few weeks ago via your piece on Brevity from January. You offer a unique view into how we nurture soul as writers, and I’m glad other people find your work as inspiring as I do. Best of luck with your plans for the next few weeks. I look forward to reading!
Thanks, Corey! And thanks again for your kind words about my Brevity essay. It helped my writing to take such a close look at sentences. Sometimes they get lost in novel writing. And more thanks for leaving a comment here. I look forward to seeing the round circle of your face more often : )
Congrats on Freshly Pressed! I love your beach at sunset photo, enjoying it on this rainy day in Maine.
Thanks, Sarah. For some reason, I love that clothes line.
I found Catching Days by way of Freshly Pressed, and I look forward to reading it much more in the future. Me, I spend my days tackling a new position at work, that came just before I found out my husband & I are moving away. I’m updating my resume and trying to do as much as I can for my current employer, before I leave. And all I really want to do is work on my blog. When it rains, it pours!
Lisa, I enjoyed reading your comment on Nichole’s post and I’m happy to see you back. Good luck on your move. I look forward to getting to know you and to visiting your blog.
Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed, Cynthia! I was delighted when I saw this post in my email box, as I am always but this one was just a bit special. I so enjoy all of your posts but am quite partial to the writers series. Thanks for some great reading!
Karen
Thanks so much, Karen! I appreciate your support, as always.
