Beth,

This note brought me to tears. It is such an honor to see you are reading the book slowly, and with your niece. I hope it stirs good conversations. And I know your spiritual sensibility is offering a unique perspective.

Thank you, Beth.

Much love,

My dear Maureen,
I love your writing so very much....in the midst of preparing for this Saturday's funeral I found your words (again) moving me to tears with the way you do your wordsmithing. Thank you, you always move me! In other news, I bought two copies of The Patron Saint of Lost Girls - one for myself and one for my niece. We are reading them together (but apart - she's in Mason, MI) and enjoying them. I love the memories your story brings me of my teen and twenties....just thought you should know! I am not reading it quickly (as I usually devour books) but reading a bit at a time so I can enjoy it longer! You better write another book soon, my friend!

this is so wonderful and it restores my hope in the printed word. how great that the book fair had so many people attending.

after reading that you were feeling the ontario smoke, i guessed that you were a fellow michigander. i live in ann arbor, grew up in the suburbs north of detroit and when i came to ann arbor for grad school at age 40 it felt like i had finally found my real home. i went to wayne state for my undergrad and i love visiting the city. eastern market is a treasure and i'm so happy that people are finally returning to detroit, it has so much life, and i always discover something new -

I love everything about this piece, the writing inside the writing, the generosity of spirit, the story of a day and the homage to reading. I read this first thing in waking, still in bed after a wild storm if a night, and it’s made my day already. Thank you!

KM - love to hear this! It's like multiplying energies and a universe of possibilities that just gets richer, isn't it? And hooray for audiobooks! Me too - all the reading that gets done while our hands our busy elsewhere. Thank you for sharing this.
