In reply to BK Loren. No, it's not corny. It gives me a lift every time someone comments on my posts (most posts are excerpts from the book I'm finishing). So whenever I get a new follower or a comment, I feel my words have been validated. Actually, I'm over the moon. Don't give up crawling under your desk. Here in earthquake country that's an invaluable skill. I might take it up.

Cheryl, I think taking a shower would be better than lying under the desk–maybe. I’m hard pressed to give up my old stand by. Well, actually, I never will. It’s my place in the world (one of many). But when I get stuck, I just bumble around the house and my hair sticks out in every direction. I think I shower might be a welcome visitor. Thanks for the tip. And thanks for reading the post and taking the time to comment. It sounds corny every time I say it, but I mean it: It means so much to me when people take this kind of time out of their days. It makes me believe we’ll all be okay, after all.

I love this blog, Bk. Thanks for being a guest on it. I’m still rooting for a collection of your stories. AND now add to that another collection of essays. Cezanne claimed that if he got an object right, we could then see even its odor. He obsessed over each brush stroke. I doubt though he went under his easel. I take a shower when I’m stuck. Luckily this only happens once or twice a day. Something about the water beating down on my head. And the side effect is people say I smell good.

Hi Writers Side Up. I guess when I’m under the desk, I might be writers’ side down, looking up (hopefully). Whatever the case may be, I’m grateful for your warm response to my contribution to this blog. There are some days that are born to be crappy. Sometimes I just let them be. You know, a little dark, a little light can make a beautiful chiaroscuro. But other times, I go–“Nah, not going to let this one get me down.” So I’m glad this spoke to you and to others. It was a lovely late night stroll. And the pizza was all the tastier for it.
