Once again a great interview. I think we all love this series Cynthia. I really enjoyed reading about Marge Piercy's day and her Passover celebrations - we always think of it as Christmas without the presents. My mouth was salivating at her descriptions of the food - I just want to be invited to sit around the table. Passover food is an extraordinary cultural mish-mash and I am always astonished at how delicious and strange the egg in salt water tastes. Anyway, if I get started on my love of Jewish food ( discovered late in life) I shall never stop. Back to writing and books, I stumbled upon a copy of Summer People a few years ago and very much enjoyed it. the characters are excellent. I like your advice about not reading 'how to..books'. I am with you!

I love the approach to catching the day from dusk to dawn, very original. It made me think about all kinds of places in a day one could start. Now, if I waste the entire morning, I will say to myself, but I can still start my writing day because the day can start now. I know you, Ms. Piercy, as a poet, but have not read any of your novels. If I were to choose one, which do you recommend? Thank yo for sharing you day.

Marge, very good advice on reading in the genre. I was surprised to learn how young adult fiction had evolved and matured since my time as a teen. I don't have a cat but I have a dog for company while writing. I hope you enjoyed your Passover.

Cynthia, I always enjoy the answers to those questions best of all in these posts.

The problem is that most how to write books are written by peole who don't actually write. Usually a lot of woo woo. Few of them have written well in the genre they are discussing.

Wonderful post, but now I'm hungry. Loved the photos, especially the cats. Felines are perfect companions for writers until they nudge in too close (the way mine is doing now) and make it hard to type.
